West Ham are looking to make a move for Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino, who may be allowed to leave the Reds in January for £16million, according to talkSPORT and LivEchoNews!
Roberto Firmino may be the perfect solution to West Ham’s goalscoring troubles, but wouldn’t play the role of a traditional striker (such as Gianluca Scamacca or Michail Antonio). Firmino is primary a false 9, meaning he drops deeper to create for the wingers. Signing someone like Firmino works perfectly for the system David Moyes has adopted, as we know that we are primary a winger-based team (Jarrod Bowen and Said Benrahma, for example). This is something we’ve seen Firmino bring out of players for years at Liverpool, being able to bring the absolute best out of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah for a majority of his tenure at Liverpool, and played a huge part in Liverpool’s success under Jurgen Klopp.
Although with this signing, what does it mean for the likes of Scamacca and Antonio? Where would Firmino fit in? Personally, this is how I would line up if was David Moyes:
